: I need to be real careful how I say this. I'm not talking about the Kaballah perse, but about something that hit me while looking at it years ago. I knew some folks who were in the Assemblies of God and also Messianic churches who were into Kaballah and also I knew some charismatics and Messianics who were dead against it. I really got fascinated with it by reading Umberto Eco's FOUCAULT'S PENDULUM. Anyway, to me, leaving certain people's penchant for divination aside--This is not something Christians should practice--I found that what attracted me in Kaballah was this sense of order in creation, almost like a cosmological order that could also be seen in the human person, the relationship to the Divine, etc. I feel like that order (see Colossians 1) is something that Kaballah is sensing. Here I am not advocating Kaballah, as I don't fully know what it is about. I began to see something in Kaballah that I see in other things like language, or the cycle of the year or the cosmos, or the evolutionary tree. It's like a fluid diagramming of sentences or some rich vibrant playfully rythmic beast leaving his imprint throughout creation. It is not so much the lungfish itself, but it is seeing how everything that is passes through that lungfish and how that lungfish unties to higher orders of creation or non-creation. something like that. o.k. so i game it a name for my own need to discuss it and i called it the ORDER OF FORMS. Linnaeus and Darwin saw it. Aquinas and Teresa of Avila saw it. Black Elk saw it. It was bigger than all of them. They did not master it, but may have been becoming masters within it. It mainly mastered them and they bowed in reverence to it (Romans chapter 1). I think Paula must know an awful lot about the ORDER OF FORMS. Just check out her website.

one more thing, last night, after Paula and John I had eaten, and after Roan made her rounds of Carraba's making friends, we were walking back to the car and I found a small piece of a tree on the ground. we tend to think of them as sticks but forget that they are parts of trees. so, i saw it and i just knew i had to pick it up. then it started to talk to me and tell me how every branch needs a greater branch for existence. it's very branchiness demands this. i started to see how in order to branch out we need anchors for our soul. we need to also realize that we every it as much tree, although we cannot survive on our own. then i got to thinking that branches eventually break off or grow old and fall and they do not have roots or continue in life, but then the branch told me differently. they survive in a more glorious way. for it is the branch that leads to the flower and the flower to the seed and the seed continues the saga of an entire tree, so you see, that branch is a mother, just like she was mothered by a larger branch and by the whole inner workings of the tree. it is all related. then i started thinking about how this all relates to our union with the divine. we all need to humbly be branches to see how we are also have the image of the tree stamped all over us. it is not necessary for us to try to realize entire 'treeness' but we will be most 'tree' when we become the best branches, leaves or seed possible. these things are no less tree, although they all manifest in different forms. so, if anyone ever tells you that plants do not communicate, you will know better........

peace and love, Bill
