childish frumpkin: it's one of the first poems I read about something as unpoetic as the internet, or computers (ref. WAITING ON BETTER ENGINES)
giveawayboy: oh.....
childish frumpkin: it's a topic we're all frustrated with
giveawayboy: yeah....i'm trying to figure out a way to make searches more human
giveawayboy: but i don't even know where to submit ideas.
childish frumpkin: those designs - were those yours?
giveawayboy: no, i lifted them off an image search for "image search"
childish frumpkin: oh
childish frumpkin: I don't know -
giveawayboy: poems, like novels are not simply forms of writing. they are vehicles of consciousness.
childish frumpkin: my supervisor attended someone's talk of a new design for those web searches that I think might be up and running - it was supposed to be pretty good.
giveawayboy: yeah, wow! awesome!
giveawayboy: i'm getting more interested in that.
childish frumpkin: getting more interested in what exactly, poems?
giveawayboy: no, search engines.
giveawayboy: or methods.
giveawayboy: i see them as elaborate vehicles that we need to keep reinventing, like snakes that shed their skins.
childish frumpkin: oh

giveawayboy: or dreamy, like i'm inventing the rocketship or something.
childish frumpkin: well I"m not passionatte about web search engines - but someone has to - if no one is, then none would exist
childish frumpkin: so i'm curious about your idease

childish frumpkin: how do people imporve on that thing?
giveawayboy: well, there has to be interface between fields of knowledge and people. i think that there need to be people actually as part of the search mechanism/process.
giveawayboy: i don't know how to explain it better.
giveawayboy: there needs to be more interface.
giveawayboy: perhaps a three way between individuals, parties who can dialogue w them and data.
giveawayboy: the dialogue part is important. or at least develop intelligent machines that can start to think and react like people and dialogue themselves.

childish frumpkin: a third person? how would this work?
childish frumpkin: if you typed in keywords... where would the 3rd person be and what would they do that the first person typing - the seeker - couldn't do?
giveawayboy: i'm not sure. perhaps there would be centers for it. in local communities, or in online communities that would have experts on knowing how to aim searches. they could be like trail blazers who help others after clearing paths. they would be like scouts and trailguides. there could be schools of them.
giveawayboy: they might be like a tour guide on the search....it might not even be feasible or practical.
giveawayboy: they would know what kind of searches yeild what results. they would know what stones to look under. etc.
