: As she said -- she was suffering greatly. When she got to the breaking point and let go of everything, she felt a great freedom and the suffereing was alleviated.

And the suffering just causes more desire to be away from the suffering, and starts to feed on itself. To break the cycle, you have to let go of your attachments.
