The link attached to this message goes to a movement in NYC founded last spring in a reaction against the current 'war on terrorism' being waged by the USA. The original point was that many New Yorkers were angered and hurt that the destruction overseas was being caused for them, "in their name.", and are even more angered as that war gets broader and more politcal in nature.
I feel a resonance to their movement, while not feeling that it is totally appropriate for me because I wasn't there, am still not there, yet I cannot help but feel sympathy for those who are overseas, suffering.
My question is this --
Can anyone here write a poem that expresses the same sentiment, but on a more global level?
I would like to do something with this poem, and I am not sure what yet...an art project, a prayer project, simple expression to bring the concept out to more people, I'm just not sure. But I do not have the writing ability to put it together. I hope that someone here does.
If anyone here can take a stab at it, please do, and please grant me permission to reprint and use it in other communications on these issues.
