What Chris is doing is very important. We all need to hear what others see in us. Forgive me if you do not appear in this list as I'm just writing about the ones who come to mind at the time of this writing. Eventually, I'll have more to say about all of you. Thanks to Chris, here goes my impressions of some of you all:
Chris is buffalo in a teepee. He is sitting at the grandfather drum. He has his issues. don't we all. but his heart is for the people. sometimes he overwhelms them. it's all good. his heart is gold. he only feels good in god's house, whether it's sitting in church or in a dance circle or sweat lodge. he just likes god. chris is a good friend. chris gets over stuff fast. chris thinks about stuff and counts the cost and makes good decisions. usually after big explosions. chris and i get along well. we have big explosions, usually about once a year, but that's o.k. it's part of the good stuff.
Cari remembers everything. She remembers good things. I wish she would forget some bad things, but she DOES remember the good things. She also remembers details. She also thinks about others. She also GIVES alot to others.
Kristi sits on a perch in a dark house and hears cries of those who have pain. She sits and watches lots of different dramas unfolding and feels like everything is spilling out around her. But, she manages somehow to find a sunlit room and to bask even for a moment in rebuilding sunlight. She becomes strong. She becomes beautiful and liquid. She becomes soft and tender for those who need her.
Bryce brought energy into my life. Bryce gave me comfort w awkwardness. He and I had what he called "a funky friendship" and it was O.K. He challeneged me to know me. He also helped me get, as Trent Reznor says, "closer to God".
John Lee gets excited when he discovers things and he likes to share them with others.
Steve Meigs gets insights and likes to communicate them. Steve also has revelations of who people are and it rocks him to his core. Steve shares this with others.
Pam cares about people. Pam listens. Pam also has a gift of service.
Paula does what Mary does. She learns things about God and ponders them in her heart.
Lindsey believes in me. She told me something once that I will always remember.
Corey is a maelstrom of creativity. She has gifts that she doesn't know about yet.
Dora is amazing. She can take 'ordinary' things and see greatness in them. She does this with her art. Also, she is full of love and lessons about life. She also has great devotion to God.
Martha Bootle--hmmmmm.....what can I say. Zeal! She has her weak moments and she knows this, but it won't take her long to get back up again and run straight ahead!
Marcos wants to impart knowledge and information to people. He doesn't merely want them to learn facts....he wants them to know WHY those facts are important and HOW they are to be understood. Marcos wants us to live our lives more devoted to God. He wants to create environments for this. So does John McGee. Marcos wants to to find different avenues for expressing the spiritual life. He wants to grow spiritually and see a community where others are growing as well.
Cliff has so many ideas. Cliff needs to give Bill a call.
Yahoo is a great artist. Yahoo is a great singer.
Raul is good to me. Raul is loyal. Raul=walking soy products!
Greg is fun to talk to. Greg is very smart and he is honest and he also is daring and willing to grow and change. Greg can educate others. Also, Greg sees how different fields of knowledge relate to one another. Greg is braver than me, at least in terms of his martial arts involvement. I'm still to chicken to walk into a gym, not to mention a martial arts class. So, in this respect, I look up to Greg. Greg is a marvelous cartoonist. Greg is full of gifts. And, Greg is nice. The neat thing about Greg for me, is seeing him grow and discover new experiences and new things in life.
Tim Wigley sees beauty in things. Tim appreciates that. He is also a fab artist. Tim wears cool silk shirts.
John McGee doesn't want to settle for less in anything. John want to grab the brass ring and then some. He has really taken me places in terms of my own inner growth. He challenges me. It seems as soon as he befriends you or warms up to you, he shows you some nice prickly cactus or something that you need to deal with. He might not even know he's doing it. But, life with John is definitely NOT boring. It's always one whirling adventure. John is a dreamer and he is frustrated often with this life, with the daily grind. It's because he sees the world so differently. He is impulsive at times, but he is only trying to get everyone into some kind of state where they can get more out of life. I think he longs for authenticity and action.
Xavier is very wise. He is also a big fan of surfing the net. So, if you want to talk to him you'll find him there somewhere.
Lane is good for me since Lane brings Gouda Cheese.
Mike is fun. Mike is a true friend. Mike loves me and he takes me seriously. This amazes me. But he does. Also, I have an extensive collection of Mike's art.
Rob Colon shared a great time in my life with me. Now we are back in touch. Rob spent several years being one of my best friends. He was my other half. He and Nathan would stay up late with me when I was the night manager at TCS. Those guys are very dear to me. Rob is also a great artist.
There is so much more I could say about everyone. Right now I'm thinking about Christo, about Frank and Sarah and about John Vaughan, but this could take forever. I'll catch all you cats next time.
