this is story of one of my fav artist working places..i loved to do something like this when we get our own space... imagine the attention the building would get..attention = people who might just wanta stay...and be an active part...i have been thinking alot on art lately and how the arts effect society. and what can we do to reach out and in as a artistic group..cari said something really cool sun..about us ..she is seeing us grow up into really good artists. she remember the old stuff we did and now she sees the stuff we are doing..imagine what the reality in potentials is in us that we have as a people on so many levels.. that statement she said rocked me..i agree i have seen the art of some really go some where..dont stop doing art challenge your self pray study do big art dont be afraid..there is a world out there watching you grow and you dont even know it...i tink if we got organized a little we could really do something really really cool...there is a place called house of nicholson. it carries cool artworks for the house. hyde park intl mall etc..i remember when it started on nicholson street in clwt..it carried art like we do just finished.. know it is a chain of studio stores..one idea has exploded for them why not us....
StoryPeople Studio
A couple of weeks ago, we started getting calls from our collectors about how they'd seen our building on tv. It seems a crew had been in town for This Old House & they'd shot a long sequence of the front. People asked us if we could put a shot up where they could take a closer look, so we did..
This is the building where we make StoryPeople. A long time ago, before we'd even heard of Iowa, this was a music store. On the very top floor (which we're currently converting into a loft & performance space), they used to hold dances. After that it was the power company, & then a bike shop. It's a wonderful old brick building, built sometime in the 1880's, like many you'll see scattered all over the Midwest.
Except for the front. For a long time, we'd all stand in front of it & say, This needs something. Then, last summer, after Brian painted a mural on a building in the center of town, we decided it was time to let the color of the studio spill out into the street.
There've been mixed reviews. Some people in our town love it. Some people hate it. You don't see colors like that in nature, they said. We like it. It reminds us in the dead of winter that, somewhere, people have the sense to live in places where the temperature never goes below 70 degrees. (It's not a lot of comfort, but it's enough to keep us pushing through the wind chill..)
..........we could do this..................................................................
thanks i know this was long...but let it get inside you....this was one dream of a human like yourselves..and boom he know is intl.....
