Uau! ~N~

Great questions! You don't miss a beat. Well here goes? I'll try to answer them all.

So...let's begin here...
If you could go anywhere in the world, and all expenses were paid, you had a dream job waiting for you. Where would you go?

Well, Curitiba, Brasil of course!

How long would you stay?

Long enough to become fluent in Portuguese at least, unless I wanted to stay on after that.

What personal effects would you take?

I imagine I'd leave my books and CDs here, and sell everything else and just go down there and return to my almost monk-like existence, which Marc and I almost perfected at the Pink Palace (Marc and I lived together for awhile).

Why that place?

for various reasons. After reading Bill McKibben's great essay on Curitiba, I have been curious as to what actually living there would be like. Can you imagine a city where most of the transport used was public busing and biking or walking? Can you imagine a city where people fought off a potential highway project to build a 'walking' mall and parks on the inside of town? Can you imagine a place called 'the greenest city on earth'? Not that Curitiba, like any other place is without it's problems, but they have also successfully overcome many of them or at least risen up to greet them. One of the keys is that the people are invovled in the affairs of their city. It is a city where people decided to take ownership. There is much more that I could say, but I'll refrain from doing so here and now. But I'll be glad to entertain any future questions.

See ya, Bill
