When God has a plan for you, and you know it...you should just trust that everythings going to work out, right? You should just trust that He'll take care of you, and stop stressing and losing sleep over it, right? Well, I know these things....
Bill: Well, I don't have too much to say here as I'm just as perplexed on it as you. Still, I know there is this whole idea of 'laboring to enter into his rest'. I don't know what it all means, but there is a sense of rest, but it isn't a passive rest, but an active one. It is more or less knowing that you can have hope and confidence in God but still you have the sense of duty and action that is different from a nervous or anxious spirit. I think it's the 'rest of faith'. We can look at many heroes of our faith who put their trust in God, yet had to walk that out in the real world. Not easy, but they were able to do it.
~n~: I've been so independent and so un-trusting my entire life...but I thought that with God, it would be different, that I'd TOTALLY be able to trust him with no holds barred...but my worldly experiences still have me trapped in a vicious cycle of untrust and independence.
Bill: It's O.K. The main thing is that you see this struggle within yourself. Already God is at work shedding light on the trust and independence issues. I guess one thing that you are already dooing is practicing trust and interdependence. Being part of a community is helpful w that. As you continue on your journey to total trust just focus on each step. Each step is part of the whole journey. We can never arrive at our destination without each step in between. Every now and then we can stop and chart our progress. It's amazing to see how far we've gone.
