"right" always gets reconfigured. in the meantime i've beaten up any number of people trying to reconfigure *them* according to the current configuration that will inevitably get reconfigured anyway. at the center of it is arrogance, which largely proceeds out of a sense that what i believe is essentially undefendable (at some level).
AMEN
: somehow when i stop defending what i believe a lot of stuff comes clear. some of the stuff i hung onto disappears. no longer need to defend that... its gone. some of it sticks around forever, undeniable. don't need to defend that either, it just is.
SO TRUE
****************
in the last few years I've become a strong adherent of The Indigo Girls line:
"There's more than one answer to these questions
pointing me in crooked line
The less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine."
Years ago, I took that line as a stab at ultimate truth, some kind of denial of objective reality or something. Now I know, at least for me, it doesn't mean that. It means our insistence on control and needing a 'definitive'. To me it's less about denying a source, and more about wanting control. I love that line.
