: Plans -- 14 family members gathering for turkey. woo.

: I like the concept of Buy Nothing day.

: However, if it ever truly took off, it would just HELP the corporate slugs. Because everyone would still go out and purchase their items, but just on a different day. It would simply streamline the shopping experience, allowing stores to save money by not playing employees for a day.

: But I do admit, a day where noone shopped would be cool. Of course, many of my counterparts out here never shop on Sundays, but we are a minority, so i doubt that it has any real economic impact.

: In any case, to truly fix the shopping-crazed society, I have a different suggestion -- Buy one less item every week. Eventually you will be down to what you truly need to survive, and you will not be contributing to the shopping-driven society. And frenzys like the day after thanksgiving will just go away because people simply will have nothing that they want to purchase.

: :)

Great idea - the less one iten thing! How about we only buy what we need. The thought of that is really - Wow I can't fathom it! We are soooo spoiled!
