Next time you feel like going to the movies or an amusement park, go out and spend some time in the woods. There's no experience more spiritual and beautiful than enjoying a day in the forest.
Part of me is yearning to live a more simple existence. Without going into too much detail, I feel like I'm a slave to some maniacal puppeteer in in the show of everyday life. I would love nothing more than to live in an A-frame cabin in the woods of Vermont. I'd spend my day as a student in nature's beautiful classroom.
I'm reading Thoreau's Walden which deals with his quest to deny materialism and seek a deeper and more meaningful existence in the Massachussetts woodlands. It's a great read for those of you who really feel a connection with nature.
