Your scared...good. 'Cause I'm not going to be any better. My spirit is willing, but my mind, body and logic are weak. I come from the same place as you. I don't even know what to say. I just know that I should go. And I can't wus out and avoid talking to anyone.
: True I am writing passionately and I want to do it, but I have never done such a thing, if I can get some people to do it you better be there cause I'm going to be scared silly. I mean thieves and prostitutes! I am whitebread suburban babyboom trash what do I know about their world? It is exciting none the less, ok I got a couple weeks--any takers can e-mail me at katcassidy@hotmail.com.
: c'mon brothers and sisters show me what your made of!
: : You organize it, I'll be there. I thin kwe should be there every weekend among the thieves and prostitutes talking with them, laughing with them, and standing firm in our faith before them. Not just to party but to take the presence of God boldly into these areas where Christians normally don't go. I agree whole heartedly. In fact I have tried to do this, but it always ends up turning into a party, or no one goes. Nothing wrong with making it fun, but the focus needs to be there. It is my desire to have the lost dregs of this city so sick of seeing Christians everywhere they go that they either attack us or join us! No more on the fence. I mean it, I will be there. Name a date. I'll be out of town this weekend though the next, but any time after that.
: : You're passion excites me and gives me hope that I am not the only lunatic who feels this way.
: : : That's what it's all about John. It is scary but, you have to look at zealots and say to yourself does the God and the Son that DIED Horribly for me derserve anything less? Of course not. Can we realistically act in this much of an impassioned manner and have most people even willing to listen? Not likely.
: : : We need do need to be passionat for Christ and willing to fight on the frontlines but, I know we have to be more subversive about it. It's a matter of meeting people where they are and you can't do that by standing on a corner holding a gigantic sign about the end of the world, preaching that people are going to HELL! Most people feel like they are in hell and would laugh you right off the street. It really literally takes walking down dark alleyways and going into the the clubs and raves and bars and meeting people where they are even if they will only take a tract out of your hand. Is anyone doing that? I heard Glen Clark mention Ybor city but, I didn't hear what the experiance was that he had there as I was distracted. But, who here wouldn't have a burden for that place and those people? We should be there every weekend. (Of course I mean Christians in general--not to party!)
: : : Now who's jumping off?
: : : thanks for noticing me.

: : : : : This is how we should feel about the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
: : : : Very cool, but it will scare many people. Anything that requires a passionate committment is scary because the ability to distance and back out if it goes sour is not there. There are very few things that people can get behind like this. Basically it has to be something you are willing to die for. The only thing is that if you are going to do it, you had better make sure its worth dying for. And who can argue that the Gospel of Christ is not one of those things. I long for boldness but have it not. I long for passionate committment but have it not. It is easy to talk about, but try yourself and see how quickly you turn and run. Does this reaction mean our commttment was false? Or that it was misplaced? Or is it simply a factor of the human failed condition that even what we most passionately beleive we will deny in our own power. Perhaps this is the flaw, that we act in our own power. Even Peter denied, but turned out much better once he understood the true working of God's power in his life.
: : : : Admittedly, one can rage and determine their way through most anything, evidenced by my stint at Home Depot, and Timothy McVeigh, but this is pointless and unhealthy in many ways.
: : : : Sorry, just jumping off of your post.
