I don't know if I agree with all of the attachment parenting theories, but I do agree with your observation. Something about it rings true in my opinion.

I think we are constantly bombarded by stimuli of every sort; all competing for our attention and time. Similarly, I think that controlling the stimuli bombarding you can funnel or focus your attention toward a specific item or direction.

For instance, if I'm looking for creative inspiration as a designer or artist, I'll look at graphic design publications or thumb through art books... or even sit down with a brush, paint, and blank canvas and "focus" my thoughts and energy on that thing. Having controlled my stimuli, I'm able to find inspiration, direction and even a sense of pleasure or fulfillment in what I'm doing.

I think that is why God commands us to be involved in Christian Fellowship on a regular basis, to receive instruction from elders and other believers, and to foster a daily relationship with Him... all to focus our thoughts and "organize" us. I think that's also why God wants such behavior to be habitual in our lives. We need to discipline ourselves for these things because God created us to need them. And when we are more "organized," we are more in sync with Him.

Just some thoughts flying from the tips of my fingers like butter from a lop-sided camel on his way to a flea circus.

(huh?)
