: : And Earthsea Trilogy is a set of books by Ursula LeGuin.
: : Actually, its up to more than a trilogy now. She orinigally had it as a trilogy, but added a couple more novels, and recently, a book of short stories.

: hm, i may have to check that out. i like ursula leguin quite a lot. i've only read one of her books. i remember reading this (egad) pat robertson book a really long time ago, back in the 80's when he was running for president. hehe. i had some friends who were all into him, they even worked on his campaign. well at least they were doing something and not just complaining about things like me.

: well anyway mr robertson had this book out around that time, something about the one world order. its funny, here is where my ursula leguin connection comes in... believe it or not. robertson was commenting on all sorts of things having to do with one world mentality (whatever that is) or maybe "one world politics" or something, and there was an ursula leguin book mentioned. i'm trying to remember what the name of it was. well, out of everything his book said, this was the one thing that was interesting to me. of course leguin's book was demonized (if i remember right) by robertson, but the way he talked about it made it seem interesting (a lot more interesting than his book was), so i went out and bought a copy. i still have it, and it is a really great book. and i kinda dug her "viewpoint" too, even though that isn't really why i read science fiction. the book was a bit didactic (and i always hate that esp in fiction), but what the heck it was still a lot of fun and well written.

The fact that much of Science Fiction is kind of a morality play is what I like about it. I really don't think that guys with lasers and rocket ships is what attracts me to science fiction, instead it is the story that parallels our own conflicts and social ills (the story that teaches); that is one of the things I dig about Science Fiction. That you get guys with lasers and rocket ships and Aliens that look wierd and stuff, it's just icing. I especially love Science Fiction that really takes you places you haven't thought of though. Other peoples imaginations are way cool!
You are cool, too. Jonvon, I learned a new word today from you. Didactic. I hope I understood correctly.
