Bill, you know that I love you, but I just wanted to remind you of that because it seems like I only post something when I disagree with you. :)

But, personally, I have NO interest in seeing this movie based on the trailers.

The trailer showed the low points of those last hours -- the violence, the doubts, the pain. Although those are certainly significant, they must be contrasted with the teachings that they represent. A movie is going to reach a large audience, not all of whom will be able to project the appropriate teachings into their perceptions of the movie.

If they show the crucifixion, they should show why it had to happen and what it did for everyone.
If they show the pain, they should show when he asked to be relieved of it, and more importantly, of his submission to the will of God, and what that teaches us.
If they show the doubts of his followers, they should show the blessings they received when they did not doubt.
And above all, they must have a point to this movie -- it must teach something to its audience. If not, then it is simply capitalizing on something sacred. I don't think i need to explain why that is a problem.

And if the movie does do these things, then why did the trailer not show it? The trailer is using people's morbid curiosity about pain and death to draw people in. How can I justify supporting that by giving my money and time?

With Love,
Bob
